Members of Inverness Military Wives Choir are gearing up for a number of events to mark the centenary of the end of WWI.

The choir is set to perform once again at the Poppy Launch at Inverness Town House on October 26.

The singers are also due to perform at a fundraising event for Erskine on November 3, before hosting their two Remembrance concerts on November 9 and 10.

The choir’s chairwoman Tracey Walsh said: "This will be our fourth year performing at the Poppy Launch and it is really nice to be able to go back again.

"The Town House is a lovely venue and we are all really looking forward to performing there again.

"Given our military connections, this is always a very busy time of year for us.

"It’s so important to us that we don’t forget the sacrifices that were made for us to enjoy the freedom we do."

In the wake of the success of last year’s remembrance concert, which raised more than £3000, the choir have added a second date for the first time.

This year they are raising money for Mikeysline, as well as Poppyscotland and the Royal British Legion.

"It’s lovely to be able to support these charities and put remembrance at the forefront," Mrs Walsh said.

"The concert is something we work towards all year so it is really exciting.

"It’s the one event we put on ourselves.

"We are really keen to let people know about the charities we are supporting.

"Mikeysline are a wonderful local charity who do a huge amount of work for the military community.

"Their work is so important. This year there have been a number of losses to suicide in the military so it is important that we continue to support organisations like Mikeysline."
