Christmas can be a joyous and special time for many – but can bring difficulties for others.

The festive season is a time for some to wind down, relax after a hectic lead up to this period and spend quality time with loved ones, family and friends.

Sadly, however, this is not the case for everyone.

For those who may be facing the Christmas period alone, feelings of loneliness and isolation can become more intense at this time of year.

Others may have lost loved ones, friends, be working throughout this period, or be struggling with finances.

They may also be struggling with housing issues and all the pressures that may be felt to spend more money on presents, food, alcohol and the added pressure on some to eat more and drink alcohol over this period.

No matter what people’s individual circumstances are, there can be a number of challenges at this time of year.

All of this means that it is important to be aware that there is support available over the festive period should you need it.

Many services do stay open across the area to ensure that support is available.

At Mikeysline, we operate our text-based support, 365 days a year.

This includes all bank holidays and we can also offer a call back option for those who prefer to talk over the phone.

Our main Hive located at 19 Academy Street in Inverness – which is staffed by our team (above right) – will also be open for appointments and drop-in every evening of the week, except on the bank holidays.

You can book an appointment at either 6.15pm or 7pm on these days via: www.mikeysline.co.uk/appointments or drop in after 8.15pm.

Availability at our other Hives for appointments is also available online, or you can email us at: enquiries@mikeysline.co.uk to find out more.

Please remember, no-one should be alone with difficult thoughts and feelings.

It’s OK not to be OK.

We are still here for you if you are struggling over the festive period with your mental wellbeing mental health.

This is also true if you are suffering with emotional distress and are having thoughts of suicide.

Please reach out for confidential, non-judgemental support if you need it.

This can be done in a number of different ways:

You can text on your phone to 07786 207755

You can Messenger, Twitter, WhatsApp on 01463 729000 or webchat via www.mikeysline.co.uk

Also, you can visit us at one of our Hives. For appointments please visit www.mikeysline.co.uk/appointments
