THE Met Office has issued a weather warning for heavy showers and thunderstorms which could cause disruption.

The weather watcher has issued a yellow warning for the Highlands running up until 9pm tonight (Sunday).

It states: "Heavy showers or longer spells of rain with some thunderstorms likely to cause some travel disruption and flooding."

It states:

- Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely

- Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer

- Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer

- Some interruption to power supplies and other services likely

The yellow warning is the least severe of a trio that include amber and red.

It means that severe weather is possible and could affect individuals. It means people should plan ahead thinking about possible travel delays, or the disruption of day to day activities.

The Met Office is monitoring the developing weather situation and yellow means keep an eye on the latest forecast and be aware that the weather may change or worsen, leading to disruption of your plans in the next few days.
