The Met Office weather warning runs from 6am to 3pm on Tuesday. A separate warning for high winds will be in force in other parts of Scotland as well.

A YELLOW weather warning for heavy rain has been issued for parts of the Highlands.

The warning, which comes into force at 6am tomorrow and lasts until 3pm the same day, will cover parts of Inverness-shire, Wester and Mid Ross, Skye and the Outer Hebrides - as well as western and central Scotland as far south as the Solway Firth.

A spokesman for the Met Office warned that “heavy rain and gusty winds may lead to travel disruption and localised flooding.”

The added that bus and train services would “probably” be affected and added that journey times on the area’s roads and public transport may take longer than normal.

They also warned of “spray and flooding on roads”, and added that “flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely”.

A weather warning for high winds will also be in force in parts of central, eastern and southern Scotland tomorrow, as well as eastern parts of Northern Island, the north of England, and northern Wales. That warning will run from 5am tomorrow until 5pm the same day.
