Met Office issues Yellow warning for the Highlands and Islands and across the North of Scotland with snow and ice being forecast from Tuesday night

A YELLOW weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for the Highlands, the north-east Scotland and some of the the Islands as spring takes a chilly turn.

Adverse weather conditions are expected to last from this evening at10pm (Tuesday, March 29) until tomorrow at 10am.

Snow and hail showers will lead to ice forming on untreated surfaces and hazardous driving conditions.

People in the area should expect some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, leading to an increased likelihood of accidents and injuries

Some roads and railways are likely to be affected by snow, resulting in longer journey times by car, bus and train.
