Two Romanian men have appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court accused of running a brothel in Inverness.

Marian Sipica (28) and Ionut Cocilnau (30), who both had addresses in Coventry, made no plea to the allegation which involves a property in Crown Street.

It is alleged they kept, managed, acted or assisted in the management of a brothel between December 30 and 31, 2023.

They also made no plea to another charge of robbing a man of a mobile phone in Strother's Lane by repeatedly striking him on the head on December 30.

Sipica was represented by Kevin Hughes and Cocilnau by David Patterson.

Sipica was remanded in custody by Sheriff Gary Aitken who released Cocilnau on bail.
