The Bridge Street business lost its long serving manager Scott Dunn last year.

The company decided to honour him by creating a bottle of local single malt with the profits raised going to Highland Hospice and Maggie's Highland.

Brett Gleed, current manager of The Whisky Shop, said: “Scott was a keen runner and cyclist who raised money for various charities over the years, most notably Highland Hospice and Maggie's Highland.

“After his sudden and very sad passing in May last year, our company thought it would be fitting to have a tribute bottle of local single malt dedicated to Scott’s life, in aid of these two charities and in accordance with the wishes of his family.

“The bottles have now been sold, raising a total of £10,000 which means that each charity will receive £5,000. This is an incredible amount to have raised in such a short time, and is testament to how well-loved and popular Scott was within the Highland community.”

The cheques were handed over to the charities on Thursday.

Highland Hospice corporate fundraiser Karen Duff said the charity was very thankful for the donation. “We were all so shocked and saddened to hear of Scott’s passing last year, and so this is really gratefully appreciated.”

Andrew Benjamin, fundraising manager for Maggie's Highland, added: “Scott was an incredible man, who was loved by so many people. We are honoured to receive this donation in his memory and extend our heartfelt thanks also.”
