The Archie Foundation, Calums Cabin and Young Lives vs Cancer each received £8758 from Cairn Medical Practice – money raised during a challenge done by the staff and friends of the practice.

Participants had to complete a virtual cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats during a set period, clocking up as many miles as possible, with one team actually completing the challenge in person.

There were more than 115 people taking part and the team were delighted with how much they raised.

A spokesman for the practice said: “We are so very, very grateful to everyone who participated in, and donated to, the Cairn Charity Challenge. Everyone should be very proud of what has been achieved.”

Caroline Speirs, from Calums Cabin, said: “We are blown away and humbled by the phenomenal fundraising that has been achieved. The funds will make such a difference to so many families who have a child suffering from cancer, either by having a week’s holiday on Bute, Ayrshire or St Andrews to make special irreplaceable memories and recharge their batteries for what may lie ahead or by staying in one of Calums Cabin home-from-home Glasgow flats, for when a family need to relocate to Glasgow for treatment.”
