An initiative to improve numeracy in adults has been launched by Highland Council.

It has started a Highland Multiply Challenge Fund which is open to public and third sector organisations and aims to help people aged at least 19 who want to build confidence and skills in the use of numbers.

The council’s economy and infrastructure committee chairman Ken Gowans said it can help people who want to better manage their money or want to help their children with schoolwork.

“We also are looking for applicants to come forward with ideas on how to help people improve their numeracy skills to enter, sustain or progress in employment,” he said.

“The council have recently agreed to use the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund to support a range of initiatives that will help individuals, businesses and communities across Highland. The Multiply Challenge Fund is an important part of this.”

The fund is open to applicants until 10am on March 13.
