Market Brae Steps in Inverness get a new sign

The sign is similar to the one that has already been put in at the top of the steps and is arched over the steps looking on to the High Street.
Inverness Central Councillor Bet McAllister said she was pleased to see the sign back in place.
She said that members of the public had also told her of their delight at seeing it back in the city centre spot.
“It looked bare without it to be quite honest,” she said.
“I was always wondering when it would be fixed. It’s always kept very well.
“I’ve heard quite a few comments from locals saying that it looks lovely. A big well done to the Inverness City Committee and Highland Council.”
Cllr McAllister is hoping that similar signs can be put up at the Raining’s Stairs.
Work is currently under way to build 16 affordable new homes at the dilapidated site in Inverness.
The first phase of the build has already begun at the site and is expected to be completed by summer 2018.
The Raining’s Stairs development will be helped by £5 million of funding from the Scottish Government as part of the Inverness and Highland City Region deal.
It is being built in partnership with Highland Housing Alliance, Highland Council, Ark Estates and William Gray Construction.
The build will comprise 16 one and two-bedroom flats with six available at an affordable rent from the council and 10 available at a mid-market rent from the alliance as part of the affordable housing project. A commercial unit will also be built as part of the development.
Cllr McAllister is hoping that signs similar to those erected at the Market Brae Steps can be put up at the Raining’s Stairs.
“It would be nice to see something similar made up with the same design,” she said. “I just think it would finish off the Raining’s Stairs.
