The legendary Market Bar has lent its unique voice to the campaign against the proposed changes to Academy Street by issuing two new drinks orders called the Omnishambles and the Echo Chamber.

Signs have gone up in the pub backing the Inverness BID Your Voice, Our Future campaign opposing slashing traffic access to the city centre by 75 per cent saying it stands with the businesses.

And in doing so the Market Bar, in its totally unique way, is letting punters know where they stand on proposals many businesses say will harm the city centre that the pub has served for so long.

First the sign offers the Omnishambles: “Order an Omnishambles and you won’t get a choice but you will get what you are given.”

And second is the Echo Chamber: “Order an Echo Chamber and only if the whole bar agrees you’ll get your drink.”

The points being made by the landlords and staff seem to be pretty clear and make for some of the most damning criticism yet of Highland Council’s plans.

The decisive meeting of the Inverness committee is on Monday.
