Two young Inverness kickboxers have raised more than £600 for NHS Highland by running the equivalent of a marathon over four days.

Aidan Lennan (12) and his nine-year-old brother Ciaran, of Brudes Hill, used their exercise time last week to run a total of 26.2 miles.

The brothers are both Scottish, British and world champions. Aidan is also part of the WAKO GB team and went to the WAKO Junior European competition in Hungary last August, where he achieved a bronze medal.

It was a different fitness challenge for the boys, who trained at the city’s Highland Martial Arts Centre before it was temporarily closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

They were hoping to cover 4.4 miles daily, over six days, but did better than they were expecting by finishing sooner than planned.

Diane Lennan, their mother, said that so far they have managed to raise £613.

"We are so proud of them for doing this challenge," she said.

"They really enjoyed doing it and are so happy with how much they have raised. We just hope that it can help in some small way for the frontline staff."
