A man tried to injure himself after sneaking a knife into Inverness Sheriff Court.

Robin Parker (55) had to be stopped by court staff after being sentenced for sexual offences.

One solicitor who was present in the court room noticed the blade as Parker stood up.

He was quickly disarmed by staff after drawing the small blade.

It is understood he suffered superficial wounds.

The small credit card sized knife was tested afterwards at the security scanner and failed to register.

Parker, of New Nyth, Aberdeenshire, was remanded in custody.
