Police were involved in a stand-off with a 27-year-old man who threatened to stab officers if they entered his Inverness home.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that during the incident yesterday evening, Christopher Fraser, of Lochalsh Court, injured himself and needed to be taken to hospital for stitches to the wound.

Fraser appeared from custody before Sheriff Margaret Neilson and admitted threatening behaviour towards himself and police officers, who he threatened to stab if they entered the property.

Defence solicitor Marc Dickson said that his client was in an emotional state after separating from his wife.

He had sentence deferred until October 8.

Sheriff Neilson said: "There are some disturbing aspects to this. I want a background report."

Fraser was released on bail to an address in Merkinch Place and told to stay away from Lochalsh Court.
