A MAN has been taken to hospital after a two-vehicle crash on the A9 north of Blair Atholl closed the busy Highland road in both directions this morning.

Three fire engines from Perth, Pitlochry and Kinlochrannoch attended the scene after receiving a call at around 10.13am.

Two cars were involved in the crash, but the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said that all of the vehicles' occupants were already released from them before the appliances arrived.

A police spokesman added: “We were made aware of a crash involving two cars on the A9 near Blair Atholl around 10am on Thursday.

“One man has been taken to Ninewells Hospital [in Dundee] for treatment and recovery has been arranged for the vehicles.”

Traffic Scotland, in its most recent update shortly before 1.30pm, confirmed that the road remained closed in both directions near Cavine and the House of Bruar.
