A 27-year-old Inverness man who brazenly held up a knife to a CCTV camera in a shopping centre will be sentenced next month.

Brian Emslie, of Evan Barron Road, appeared on indictment before Sheriff Ian Cruickshank and admitted possessing the blade in Eastgate Shopping Centre on November 12, 2022 without reasonable excuse.

Fiscal depute Emily Hood told Inverness Sheriff Court that CCTV operators were monitoring the centre when Emslie looked up at the camera and showed a Stanley knife to it.

Police were informed and Emslie was arrested, Ms Hood added.

Sentence was deferred until June 18 for a background report and Emslie's bail was continued.
