Man found dead in Elgin burn was 36 years old





POLICE investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a burn in Elgin on Monday have confirmed he was 36 years old.

Enquiries are ongoing into the man's death, but police confirmed it is not believed there are any suspicious circumstances.

His body was discovered shortly after 3pm on Monday, October 24, in a Tyock Burn near Harry Gow's and the Stagecoach Depot on the A96.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.05pm on Monday, October 23, police received a report of a man’s body at Tyock Burn near to East Road, Elgin.

"Enquiries are continuing, however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the 36-year-old man.

"A report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Two police cars and two vans remain on the scene as investigations continue. The area around the bridge where the man's body was discovered remains cordoned off.

The A96 is open in both directions after being closed last night as police carried out enquiries.
