A 37-year-old man who went to confront his mother’s ex-partner about “events in the past” ended up in a fight with him.

Christopher Munro, of Bain Place, Watten in Caithness admitted threatening behaviour and engaging in a fight with Christopher Burnside in Townlands Place, Cromarty on July 7 last year.

At Inverness Sheriff Court on Thursday, Sheriff Gary Aitken deferred sentence until October 27 for Munro’s good behaviour and social work involvement after hearing from defence solicitor advocate Mike Chapman.

The court was told that Mr Burnside was watching TV when he heard a knock at the door and recognised the son of his former wife, fiscal depute Karen Poke said.

“There was a disagreement and Munro was asked to leave.

“The two began a fight at the front door, and grappled with each other before Munro left.”

Mr Chapman told the court: “This was an unedifying episode.

“My client went to confront Mr Burnside about what happened between them in the past.”
