A man has died after falling into a gorge while walking in the Mamores at the weekend.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team was called out on Sunday when the man fell from a path on Stob Ban, a 999m Munro north-west of Kinlochleven.

He fell 30m into a gorge and is believed to have died at the scene.

A total of 19 rescue team members took the casualty off the hill in a challenging operation during Storm Dennis which took around six hours.

The rescuers were blown off their feet in gusts of wind up to 50mph, with hail, snow, thunder and lightning also adding to the tough conditions.

LMRT said its thoughts were with friends and family of the man.
