A man deliberately coughed on police during the height of the pandemic.

Christopher MacCallum (41) had been picked up by police on April 24, 2021 and was getting out of a police van at Burnett Road police station when the incident occurred.

He admitted culpable and reckless conduct and several other charges at Inverness Sheriff Court.

The court heard that on May 29, 2021 he also assaulted his partner by pushing her, following a row about a mobile phone.

When police attended at the address in the city’s Rosehaugh Road he headbutted an officer. He also shouted and swore at the address and at Raigmore Hospital where he was taken by police.

MacCallum, of Union Street, Inverness, also admitted breaching bail by being at the address on Rosehaugh Road.

Sentence was deferred until February 13 for reports.
