A 27-year-old Liverpool man has been convicted at Inverness Sheriff Court.

Dale Cowley's appearance on Tuesday followed a vehicle pursuit in Inverness on Monday.

He was convicted of driving dangerously, whilst disqualified, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Cowley received an eight month prison sentence and an additional 24 month driving ban.

PC McLauchlan, from the Highland and Islands Road Policing Unit, said: "We welcome the conviction and sentencing of this male.

"Following the incident around public streets within Inverness, he did not only place himself in danger, but other members of the public and showed utter disregard for an already imposed driving ban.

"We, and our partners in the Criminal Justice System are committed to reducing road crime amongst our communities and preventing criminals from using the road network."
