Police Scotland officers in the Highlands arrest and charge man in response to reports of person with weapon in Inverness city centre

A MAN has been arrested and charged after police responded to reports of someone seen with a weapon in Inverness city centre last night.

Multiple police cars were spotted on High Street in Inverness shortly before 7pm as the force responded to the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.50pm on Wednesday, police were called to the High Street area of Inverness, following a report of a man seen with a weapon.

"A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the matter, and is expected to appear at court at a later date. There was no risk to the public.”
