Man charged with dangerous driving after driving at 143mph on A9 near Tore

A 23-year old man is to be reported to the procurator fiscal after being detected driving at 143mph on the A9 at Arpafeelie, near Tore, on Friday night (10 July).

The man, who was driving a black VW Golf, was detected by road policing officers at around 10:30pm and has been charged in connection with dangerous driving.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen the car being driven between Inverness and Tore to contact them. Anyone with dash-cam footage of the car is also encouraged to get in touch.

Sergeant Davie Miller from the Highland and Islands road policing team said: “Driving at inappropriate speeds can have catastrophic consequences and I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the black VW Golf to get in touch with us.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number NE2725/20.”
