A 46-year-old Highland man who assaulted three children between 2019 and 2022 has been sentenced to 60 hours of unpaid community work.

Michael Heneghan, of Muirfield Drive, Brora, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court previously and admitted the three offences. Sentence was deferred for a background report.

The assaults occurred in properties in Ardersier and Inverness between June 2019 and May 2022

The court heard that he struck two children on the body, one to his injury and seized another by the clothing, dragging him and striking him on the body in three separate incidents.

Defence solicitor Marc Dickson said: "Since these incidents, he has sought counselling."

Sheriff Robert Frazer told Heneghan: "This was unacceptable behaviour."
