Sentence was deferred on a 36-year-old North Kessock man after he admitted possessing a knife on May 3, 2020.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Ian Stewart, of Round House Court, had other cases calling on May 25 and Sheriff David Sutherland decided that the case should be dealt with then.

However, he called for a background report without hearing the full facts.

Stewart, who admitted previous convictions, pleaded guilty to having unlawful possession of the weapon on the Kessock Bridge.
