Man (68) arrested following Inverness flat fire

Police and fire service inquires following the fire that forced residents to flee a council flat block on Tuesday have led to a man being arrested and later released.

The Tuesday morning incident at Kenneth Buildings off Kenneth Street was in a ground floor flat, with firefighters having to tackle the incident using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets.

No one was injured.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said this afternoon (Thurs June 15) : "Around 10am on Tuesday, 13 June, 2023, we received a report of a fire at Kenneth Street, Inverness.

“Officers attended and assisted the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

“A 68-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and released pending further inquiries.

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the fire.”
