A MAN has died following a one-car crash on the A862 yesterday near Inchmore.

The crash happened five miles west of Inverness at around 1.30pm.

The silver Volkswagen Golf ended up on its roof and the 60-year-old man had to be cut free. He was taken to Raigmore Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

The fire service used hydraulic cutting gear, stabilisation gear, heavy rescue hydraulic cutting gear and a rescue board to open the vehicle and retrieve the man.

Road Policing Sergeant Angus Murray said: "Our thoughts at this time are with the man's family and friends.

"An investigation into the collision is under way and we have already spoken to a number of witnesses.

"In order to help establish the cause of the collision, I would urge anyone who believes they may have seen the vehicle on the day of the collision to come forward if you haven't already done so.

"Likewise if any motorists believe they may have dashcam footage which could assist our enquiries, I would ask for them to come forward.

"Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1668 of April 2, 2019."

The road between Clachnaharry and Inchmore was closed for more than two hours.
