A Highland man who possessed indecent images of children aged between five years of old and 12 years of old was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

Nicholas Gardner, of Craigellachie Crescent, Aviemore admitted the offence which took place in a house in Clova Crescent, Nairn between October 9, 2018 and September 26, 2019.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that there were 10 still images of girls in erotic poses and one video on an electronic device.

Sentence had been deferred on the 45-year-old for a background report to be produced.

Defence solicitor advocate Neil Wilson said: “There was no sexual gratification gained here.

“He shows awareness that this is not a victimless crime.

“There are no underlying issues and he knows he should not have done it.”

Sheriff Margaret Neilson also placed Gardner under one year of social work supervision.
