Man (31) sentenced to 14 years in prison for rapes, and sexual and domestic abuse offences in Inverness and Cumbernauld

A RAPIST who committed a number of sex and domestic abuse offences in Inverness and Cumbernauld has been jailed for 14 years.
Gavin Reid (31), a prisoner in Inverness, was jailed at the High Court in Aberdeen.
It came after he earlier pled guilty to a number of domestic abuse and assault charges on January 16, and was found guilty by majority during a jury trial on January 18 of two charges of rape and a third of sexual assault.
On March 19 he was sentenced to 14 years' in prison, comprising an 11-year custodial term and an extension period of three years. The sentence was backdated to May 20, 2022.
The court also issued him with indefinite non-harassment orders in respect of his two victims.
Police Scotland Det Insp Gordon Patullo said: “Our thoughts are with Reid’s victims and we hope that his sentencing brings them some kind of closure.
“Tackling sexual and domestic abuse is a priority for Police Scotland and we encourage anyone who believes they are a victim to come forward no matter how much time has passed.
