An Inverness man spat in the direction of police officers while being placed in a cell

George Wright (28) admitted four charges. He was bailed to be sentenced on December 13, following a background report.

Wright, of Church Street, pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour in the A&E department of Raigmore Hospital on February 11, hindering officers in the execution of their duty, assaulting an officer and culpable and recklessly spitting in their direction at Burnett Road police station.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that officers were called to the hospital to deal with Wright, who was being restrained by security staff.

He was shouting and swearing at the police, threatened to bite them and then struggled violently and kicked out at the officers as they tried to put him in a police van, the court heard.

Defence solicitor Clare Russell said she would be seeking to play the CCTV footage of the cell incident in her plea.
