A boutique dedicated to second-hand designer clothing and accessories in Inverness city centre has announced its permanent closure due to coronavirus.

Maggie & Suzi Boutique, in Drummond Street, was set up five years ago by Maggie Blyth and Suzi Stewart.

A statement released by the business this morning reads: "We are heartbroken to have had to make the decision not to reopen our store.

"Trading under the new rules will be near impossible for us particularly due to the rules around taking in preloved clothing, we wouldn’t be able to process them in a way that would work for our clients and ourselves.

"We also have high overheads which we have been unable to negotiate to lower. The business simply will not be sustainable and a bank loan would be a short-term solution that would create a long-term problem.

"I want to thank all our wonderful loyal customers. You mean so much to us and thank you for loving our store. I also want to thank our incredible staff who were so dedicated to our business and ethos Ailsa, Shirleyanne and Lorne we couldn’t have asked for better.

"We put our heart and soul into the last five years and loved it. We will be in touch during the next week with clients we have to return clothes too.

"Thank you for sharing our journey, hopes and dreams with us."
