A refill shop in Inverness closed its doors for the last time yesterday.

Crown Country Larder announced it was shutting its operation in Southside Road, but will still have a presence at local markets.

It stocked products from a variety of local producers since opening in summer 2021. Customers could refill their own containers with a range for food and drink.

Caroline Thomson, who runs the venture, stated last night: "Well that's a wrap!

"Thank you to everyone that's supported us this year. Unfortunately today we closed the doors for the last time. You can still find us at some of the local markets. I hope you all have a wonderful new year all the best for 2024."

The statement on social media prompted more than 100 reactions from followers and several messages including social media food and drink influencers Haim & Awa stating: "Sad to see you go! Was our favourite when we lived in Crown."

Melanie Davidson said: "I'm so sorry you've had to close. I look forward to seeing you at markets."

Andrew Campbell said: "All the best and thanks for buying sausages and burgers and veg from me over the last couple of years."

Eleanor Carlisle said: "I am so sorry to see you go, I loved my visits to you, even if I broke the herb dispenser."

Duncan Munro said: "Very sad. Great wee shop. Pity the people didn’t see that."
