MEMBERS of Lovat Shinty Club are gearing up to tackle a 400-mile cycle which will finish on the main stage at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.

The cycle will take place from July 31 to August 3 with the finish line set for centre stage at the Beauly-based music festival where riders will be accompanied by local band Torridon.

Proceeds from the mammoth challenge will be split between Highland Hospice and Lovat's new community clubhouse fund.

The team is made up of Fraser Gallacher, Stuart MacDonald, Callum Cruden, Greg Matheson, Daniel Grieve and Drew Howie.

As part of their journey they will also encompass all of the 2017 Marine Harvest Premiership clubs.

The challenge will begin on July 31 in Glasgow, which is home to Glasgow Mid Argyll Shinty Club before cycling to Kyles Athletic ground in Tighnabruiach and then arriving in Oban.

On day two they will set off to Caol for Kilmallie, Spean Bridge for Lochaber, Newtonmore and Kingussie. Day three will see them take a detour to Kirkton which is the home of Kinlochshiel Shinty Club and on the final day they will take in Drumnadrochit to visit Glenurquhart and Balgate which is the home of their very own club.

They will then be welcomed by a cheering crowd at 4pm on the main stage at Belladrum.

As well as continuing their support for the hospice through this challenge, the cyclists are also supporting the club's ambitious project to build a new sports pavilion in the village of Kiltarlity.
