An Inverness singer-songwriter is about to release his latest EP created during lockdown.

Lone Wolf, who is the alter ego of taxi driver Jamie Fraser, says the main track of EP Dark In To Light is called Rocket Man – although it is nothing to do with the Elton John song of the same name.

He laughs and says: “It’s my own song. I like to think I am a bit more talented than that. It was written during the early stages of this lockdown at the start of the year.

“In my job we weren’t busy so I spent a lot of time just reflecting on things and looking for an escape – but I guess the song kind of gives you that because it has that elevated feel to it which brings you out of that frame of mind.”

Fraser says the song is rock-orientated with added electronic sounds and adds: “It is a current sound. I am trying to keep it fresh.”

He says he has not listened to a lot of current music for the past couple of years and has gone into his own bubble by drawing on older influences from over the years – his sound has previously been compared with Calvin Harris and Example.

His previous release – Reflections which was recorded in the comfort of his home studio which he decided to build just over two years ago – was released at the beginning of the year and was well received.

He says he is hoping to repeat that success with the latest recording, produced by Ben Sav from Burnley, and adds: “I release five-song EPs with a feature song which I do a music video for. I had a great response for Reflections.

“I have not had a chance to gig or do anything, it was just an online response but I have had great feedback.”

The video for Rocket Man will also feature on Lone Wolf’s YouTube channel.

He is hoping, as the lockdown restrictions are eased, to return to performing live and is hopeful there may be a chance to play at the newest Highland festival, Capers in Cannich.

• The Dark In To Light EP will be released at noon on June 5.
