Parents of pupils at Lochardil Primary in Inverness have been told the school and early learning centre (ELC) will be closed on Friday due to heating and hot water issues.

Children returned from the February half-term today, and two days of strike action closing all schools across Highland are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

Parents were informed at 6pm tonight.

A message from the school said: "Unfortunately, we have been advised that we are unable to open the school and ELC building tomorrow due to having no heating or hot water. I apologise for the inconvenience this will cause."

The school added that learning would continue on Google Classroom.

However, parents have been left to make last-minute arrangements for childcare.
