Tiny Foyers Primary School beside Loch Ness has now been mothballed after the roll was set to drop to three from five next term.

It is hoped that the move will be temporary, and there was much sadness among the community at the news.

To mark the occasion the school held a special Moth Ball event on Wednesday when former pupils, including a 94-year-old woman, came along at their old school for old time's sake.

The pupils will transfer to Aldourie PS near Dores and yesterday there was a "meet and greet" occasion for staff and pupils from both schools.

Highland Council said: "Foyers Primary School will be temporarily closed from 30 June 2023 following a consultation with parents and carers. Recent school roll changes has led to a significantly small number of pupils enrolled at the school.

"The Highland Council will keep the future of Foyers Primary School under review. This is not a permanent closure, and the local community and stakeholders will be consulted on any future change.”
