A popular Christmas event will light up the streets and festive cheer for the Glenurquhart community this weekend.

The annual Christmas Vehicle Parade – part of the Loch Ness Festival of Lights – will return on Sunday evening at 6pm from Corrimony Farm and from there it will head down the Glen to Drumnadrochit, reaching the Loch Ness Hub car park for the finale.

This is the third year for the event, which will see an array of decorated tractors, lorries, cars, motor bikes and other vehicles parading to kick off the festive season.

A spokesperson from the Festival said: "Last year's event was very well attended by local farmers and other vehicle owners, who spent a huge amount of time decorating their vehicles. The local community came out in force to cheer the drivers and their passengers, standing by the roadside up the Glen and in the villages on and near the A82.

"The local community development officer from GURCA has obtained permission from the police, Bear Scotland, and the Highland Council to run it.

"The team at Corrimony Farm also organises everything exceedingly well, and without them the parade would not be so successful, or indeed run at all.

"The team at the Loch Ness Hub also helps make it a success, since it ends in the car park there, and they very kindly switch on Christmas lights. Everyone hopes this year’s parade will be even better than last year’s."
