Inverness-based Iain Macphail has been recognised as one of this year’s most exceptional business leaders at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards 2022 Grand Final.

Mr Macphail, founder of IDM Safety Solutions won start-up entrepreneur of the year.

IDM Safety Solutions is a multi-disciplined health and safety services business that also offers full trade support. Operating from Inverness, IDM Safety Solutions covers the whole of the North of Scotland and the Islands.

Started in 2020 with one man and his final wage, IDM has now created 10 new opportunities for people in the Highlands and Islands with steady growth and planning, with aspirations to continue their growth.

The ceremony was held at Grosvenor House in London and saw 1,400 entrepreneurs and colleagues join together to celebrate a collective £2b generated in turnover and over 17,000 jobs.

Mr Macphail said: “Winning this award is a true testament to the hard work and dedication from the amazing people I work with on a daily basis.

"Without the team none of this would be achievable. I’m so proud of them and what we are all managing to achieve in the Highlands and Islands. We are creating real career prospects in the region and that is really exciting. I still can’t quite believe receiving such a prestigious award.”
