Live art event in Inverness raises over £5000 for local charities

A local rotary club has raised over £5000 for various charities through a live art event.

Rotary Club of Inverness Loch Ness hosted the event at the WASPS building which saw local artist Ian Whyte paint a live portrait from scratch of businessman David Sutherland.

The money raised at the event is set to go to Alzheimer Scotland, Highland Support for Refugees and other local charities.

Rotary club treasurer, Hector Douglas said: "People were very generous for three good causes. We are very pleased with what was raised through a combination of tickets, an auction and a raffle.

"Ian Whyte achieved a remarkable painting in just over two hours.

"From a blank canvas to an incredible resemblance of David Sutherland, he did a fantastic job."
