A NAIRN theatre company will take to the stage this week with a new adult pantomime production promising to bring a touch of anarchic fun to the town over the next couple of weeks.

The drama club based at the Little Theatre in Nairn has already sold out the last night of Beauty and Her Wee Beastie, which premieres on Friday.

A few tickets are, however, still available for the opening night as well as for performances set to be held on Saturday, May 20 and Friday, May 26.

The play is written by Simon Plumb and adapted for a local audience, with the plot taking place in the Highlands.

Long-time Nairn Drama Club member and show producer Jean Morrison said it was great to be back onstage after such a long time away due to the Covid outbreak and restrictions that it imposed.

“Everyone is so upbeat after being so long apart,” she said.

“We are so looking forward to it.

“It’s good fun and we were asked to bring this type of show back.

“We have a cast of nine for the show with some long-standing members as well as a few new faces.

“They all get together. The audience can feel when you enjoy it, and we love every minute of it.

“The singing, the dancing, it’s just the buzz.”

And she added: “The show is rude and full of innuendo – we have adapted it so that it includes some Scottish songs and dances.”

The choreographer for the show is Dionne Monteiro, who owns her own dance school in Nairn.

All four performances of the show at the theatre in Nairn’s King Street start at 7.30pm on their respective evenings and under-18s will not be admitted.
