City residents are being urged to light up the area with Christmas decorations after festive public events were cancelled.

Support worker Natalie Howell has launched a Facebook group to encourage people to create a trail of displays across the Highland capital.

"With all the public events being cancelled, we would just want to create an entertaining atmosphere for the kids so that they can enjoy the Christmas period," the 27-year-old said.

"It would be great to see the local businesses in Inverness getting involved as well and creating some sort of winter display made by the community."

The Facebook group will be sharing decoration ideas, crafty DIY guides and festive recipes.
