A SONG on offshore life written by an Inverness music duo is growing in popularity online.

The Rig Pigs, a music duo formed by two offshore workers, shared a video of their song On The Rig Now earlier this month.

The tune has garnered the approval of the offshore community on popular pages such as The Rig Workers' Rant, with one member commenting that this might be "The next Xmas number 1?".

Songwriter Mike MacGillivray – also known as MacGilli – is one of the two members of the duo.

He said: "We were having a couple of beers at my house one evening just catching up and going over a few different ideas for songs.

"As we both work away and have seen many hilarious situations out there, we thought it would be a fun idea for a tune that fellow Rig Pigs could relate to. The idea just popped up in conversation so it really wasn't planned at all, then about 3 + hours later we filmed the video .

"The reaction was a suprise to us to be honest, we weren't sure if people would get our humour especially in the middle section of the song but we are delighted that people found it funny!

MacGilli will be performing live at the Tooth & Claw in Inverness on December 17.
