Lieutenant Iain Cassidy (66), Regimental Sergeant Major Instructor Gordon MacLeod (42) and Sergeant Major Instructor Bruce Folley (62), all from 1st Battalion The Highlanders, were presented with the awards by the battalion’s Commandant Colonel Mike MacDonald.
The awards were presented after they completed an Adult Training Day on November 27.
Lt Cassidy was presented with the Cadet Force Medal to mark 12 years of service to the Cadet Forces.
He has had several key appointments with the battalion during his time including performing as Battalion Commandant between 2014 and 2020.
In this role he was responsible for all officers, adult instructors and cadets, and all training, within the battalion.
RSMI MacLeod was presented with the Cadet Force Warrant.
This award, which was created in August 2020, recognises the particular value placed by the Ministry of Defence on the role played by senior non-commissioned adults working within the UK’s Cadet Forces.
RSMI MacLeod has been with the Army Cadets since May 2005, starting his time with them as an instructor in Forres.
Upon appointment as the battalion’s Regimental Sergeant Major he became responsible for discipline among adult instructors in the battalion as well as for making sure their views are represented to the Commandant.
SMI Folley was also awarded the Cadet Force Warrant, and has been in the battalion for 22 years.
He operated as the training safety advisor between 2005 and 2019, working to ensure the safety of all cadets as well as the adults who supervise them during a range of activities.
He was then appointed training officer for Inverness Company after a short break last year.
