Lane closures coming on A9 at Trinafour

Improvement works on the A9 are set for Sunday for 10 nights, involving 24-hour lane closures and night time convoys.

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s trunk road operating company, has announced essential road improvement works on the northbound dual carriageway near Trinafour, south of Drumochter Pass.

The project involves comprehensive carriageway upgrades at this key section of the A9, aimed at enhancing road safety and conditions for motorists.

The upgrades will cover a total of 1km on the northbound A9, in two phases: River Garry and North of Trinafour Junction, both on the northbound dual carriageway.

The improvement works are scheduled to be completed by 6am on Friday, September 15.

There will be no works on Friday or Saturday nights.

The two phases of work are:

Phase 1 at River Garry northbound from Sunday (3rd) at 7pm to Friday 8 by 6am

24-hour single lane closures with night time convoy

Phase 2: Just North of Trinafour juunction northbound from Sunday, September 10 at 7pm to Friday, September 15 at 6am, with 24-hour single lane closures with night time convoy.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This crucial surfacing project along the A9 will fix existing defects and significantly enhance the driving experience for all motorists. Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We extend our gratitude to the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.

"To minimise delays, we recommend that motorists plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates."
