A GROUP of Inverness women are celebrating after they raised an impressive £11,400 for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

Charity fundraising group, The League of Ladies (TLOL) reached its milestone for the cause which has outreach support in the city. The cash was raised at their Summer Ball which was held at the Macdonald Drumossie Hotel in July and to which they welcomed more than 100 delighted guests.

The event played host to a silent auction and an extensive raffle with a wide range of prizes donated by businesses both locally and further afield, including a luxury break, a flying experience, vouchers for local restaurants and single malt whisky.

They revisited the venue this month to present the cheque for the final sum raised.

Amelia Morrison, TLOL chairwoman, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to say that this year, we’ve smashed our target.

“Our Summer Ball was a roaring success and we couldn’t have done any of it without local businesses, family and friends who made our dream a reality.

“We’re so proud to be able to donate the money raised to the CHAS at Home team in Inverness and continue to help them to keep the joy alive for all children who are suffering from life-shortening illnesses. Bring on next year.”

In Scotland more than 15,000 children and young people live with life-shortening conditions and CHAS is determined to reach every family who needs it.

CHAS works across the country and is able to provide its hospice services nationwide for babies, children and young people with such conditions. For further information visit www.chas.org.uk
