KIND-HEARTED youngsters at an Inverness nursery have sent a £900 cheque to the other side of the world.

Before coronavirus restrictions saw the nursery closed, children at Kinmylies Nursery were so sorry to see the events that unfolded in Australia in the wake of devastating wild fires they decided to raise money to help.

The children not only had fun raising cash for two causes – Australia Fire Fighters and the Koala Hospital – but also learned about the country.

Early years teacher Rebecca Marsham said: “The children were really upset to see the footage of the fires and they wanted to do something to help people.

“We started fundraising by holding a number of events including a raffle and selling squares. Lots of people donated prizes.

“The children not only made cupcakes and biscuits, but they also learned so much about life in Australia, including about the many animals that live there, including koalas.”
