Young cyclists are being urged to glow with the flow at this weekend’s Kidical Mass event in Inverness.

With the clocks going back last weekend, people are encouraged to turn up to the campaigning bike ride with their bike and clothing as bright as possible.

A spokeswoman for the event said: “With the clocks changing this is a great time to show us just how brightly you can light up your bike and your clothes to keep safe and keep enjoying cycling even in the darker afternoons.

“Kidical Mass is a worldwide movement wanting to show children deserve a space in our cities to walk, wheel and ride safely. A city that is safe for children to cycle is safe for us all. The Kidical Mass North ride in Inverness has been running for two years and is a great chance to get out for some fresh air and have some active fun.”

The ride begins at Bellfield Park at 1.30pm on Saturday. It is mainly flat at a slow pace with safety marshals along the route. All are welcome and there is no need to book, just come along with a roadworthy bike.

The spokeswoman added: “We do ask that parents/carers accompany and supervise their children for the ride. We ride on the first Saturday of every month during school term time with a winter break.

“There is one more Christmas-themed ride planned for December with hopefully some extra surprises! More information can be found on the website www.kidicalmassnorth.co.uk or on social media.”
