Are you brave enough to take on the Kessock Ferry Swim?
ON June 25, swimmers will gather at the South Kessock ferry point to swim across the Beauly firth in the return of a once-popular event.
The Kessock Ferry Swim is back for the first time in more than 50 years, and swimmers will have to swim across the firth to North Kessock and back, a route of 1200 metres long.
Entrants will be accompanied by safety boats and the event has been planned around the tidal conditions for safety.
It has been organised by Inverness-based charity Àban.
The route mimics that of the ferry service than ran until the opening of the Kessock Bridge in 1982.
The event took place each year between 1947-1968 and the relaunch has gone down well with the public.
Money raised from the swim will be split between Àban and Friends of Merkinch Local Nature Reserve, who manage the site of the challenge.
