Highland residents were surprised on Saturday when a well-known landmark turned both blue and yellow.

Kessock Bridge was illuminated by Limelight Event Services to thank frontline NHS staff and support Highland Hospice.

The firm lit up Inverness Castle in a similar manner last weekend.

Craig Duncan, of Limelight, said it was after the tremendous response to that that someone suggested lighting the bridge.

He said: "We thought we would give it a try. The results were quite impressive. Once we started putting the searchlights into the sky, people all over Inverness and the Black Isle thought aliens were invading and Facebook went crazy with people commenting and posting pictures.

"It's nice to be able to do something to show our appreciation for NHS workers and also help support other local charities. We also lit the bridge yellow to support Highland Hospice who really need our donations at this time after most of their main fundraising events have had to be cancelled."
