A Kinlochleven man was urged to take social work support after committing two offences in Inverness within four weeks.

Daryl Hooper, of Foyers Road, appeared for sentence before Sheriff Gary Aitken at Inverness Sheriff Court after admitting three charges of behaving in a disorderly manner and breaching the peace.

The 41-year-old was ejected from popular city nightspot Johnny Foxes on August 14, 2022 because he was on the Pub Watch banned list, fiscal depute Victoria Silver told the court.

"He refused to leave the doorway and was ranting," she said. "Police were called but he became increasingly hostile and took out his phone to film police and door staff."

Ms Silver then narrated two incidents which occurred at Inverness Railway Station on September 12, 2022.

"Staff saw him unsteady on his feet with two bottles of alcohol, one in each hand," she said. "He went to speak to one of them and asked for assistance with one of the bottles.

"The member of staff said she couldn't and as he moved off, he smashed one of the bottles on the ground.

"As he approached another member of staff, he asked to go through the security gate and was refused. He moved away but turned and threw the other bottle in the direction of the member of staff. It smashed.

"Then he tried to climb over the gate but got stuck and then tried to get under it. But he was stopped and police were contacted."

After hearing from defence solicitor Willie Young, Sheriff Aitken decided that Hooper, who had been on remand, needed support.

He placed him on a structured deferred sentence until May 2 for him to work intensively with social workers to try and resolve his problems.

The sheriff said: "You need to try and moderate your behaviour for your own benefit and everybody else. You should take this support but if you don't, you will go to jail again."
